Aadrai Jungle Trek
The Aadrai Jungle, whose name translates to “a dark forest” in Marathi, is a geographical marvel cradled within the rugged contours of the Sahyadri mountain range. Situated in the Malshej region, this dense rainforest flourishes at an altitude of over 2,400 feet, serving as a living relic of the ancient Western Ghats, one of the world’s most biodiverse regions. The jungle’s topography is a labyrinth of steep escarpments, hidden plateaus, and deep ravines, sculpted over millennia by relentless monsoons.
Aadrai’s verdant landscape is laced with perennial streams that cascade into waterfalls, forming a complex network of natural watercourses. The forest floor, rich in humus, nurtures a diverse ecosystem, including rare orchids, medicinal plants, and towering trees that create a dense canopy. This “dark forest” is also home to elusive wildlife, such as leopards, Indian giant squirrels, and various endemic bird species, making it a vital ecological corridor in the Western Ghats.
The Aadrai Jungle Trek covers approximately 13 kilometers and takes around 6 to 7 hours to complete. The journey through this unspoiled wilderness offers an immersive experience in one of Maharashtra’s most enigmatic landscapes.

Day 2
- Wake up & refresh
- Breakfast
- Begin the trek through dense forest, reaching a scenic viewpoint overlooking Malshej Ghat.
- Continue trekking through the jungle, with stops at streams and waterfalls.
- Explore the heart of Aadrai Jungle, surrounded by lush greenery and serene landscapes.
- Start the descent back to the base village.
- Arrive back at Khireshwar Village.
- Depart for the journey back to your starting point, concluding the trek.
